This Letterbox was placed to celebrate my 50th birthday. I chose to take my family on a glamping (camping with benefits) trip to enjoy great food over a campfire and relax in the beauty of nature. I placed this box on a sunny morning then spent time meditating on the beach with the sun beams dancing off the water and onto my face. Take time to have gratitude for all the beauty and love in life. This box is a symbol of the joy and gratitude I have for a magical 1st 50 years on earth.
Begin at the Afton State Park, parking area:
Follow the trail marked to beach and lower picnic area. From the Overlook continue left down the trail. Go Right at the bottom of the stairs. Once at the bottom stay left as you merge with another trail. Cross the footbridge. There will be a picnic shelter on your right.
Beach Access:
Follow the signs to the Beach/Swimming Area.
Walk along beach North, and past the Beach Limit sign. From the metal fire ring continue 25 steps to a large tri-split Cottonwood tree.
Behind the Cottonwood there is a large fallen tree trunk. Behind the trunk there is erosion in the hill with roots exposed. The letterbox is hiding behind a dark gray stone.
Trail Access:
Continue on the trail staying left of the grassy picnic area. Cross a 2nd footbridge and continue approximately 50meters. On your right will be a tri-split large Cottonwood tree and large downed tree trunk.
Hike length: 1 mile
