This letterbox is located on the beautiful Shrader Old Growth Trail. A Northwest Forest Pass is required to park at the trailhead. You can purchase one at the trailhead, $5 for one day or $30 for one year. You can also use the pass to park at my other letterbox nearby, "This Myrtle Needs a Girdle".
From Gold Beach, take Jerry's Flat Road (county road 595)approximately 10 miles. Turn right on Forest Service Rd #090. The road is well marked as the way to the Shrader Old Growth Trail. It is approximately 2 miles on this forest service road. The first 1/2 mile is paved and then it is gravel after that. It is a pretty well-maintained road and a passenger car should be able to make it.
The trail is about 1 to 1-1/2 miles long and is fairly easy.
To find the letterbox: Cross the bridge after #7. A short distance on your left there will be a burnt tree that is hollow at the base. The letterbox is here under some bark. There is a picnic table with a beautiful view just ahead that might be a good place to stamp in. Enjoy!!!
