THE EMOJI TRAIL
Begin your letterbox adventure entering from Greis Park at the end of Wright Avenue, the trail begins at the Tony Lenzo Community Gardens, a village-owned parcel of land that runs along the north side of the Long Island Rail Road tracks.

LETTERBOX #1 “SMILEY FACE”
Start at the big brick circle on the ground. Walk South 17 steps. On your left is a clump of trees. Way down low in a dark cave is Smiley face in it's pouch waiting to be your first stamp. Happy Dance! Be sure to hide it well when you put it back!

LETTERBOX #2 “HEART EYES”
This is so much fun. Don’t you just LOVE letterboxing? Continue walking East on the path. You will go past the 3-step exercise. Keep heading East and you will see a metal cross with a bell hanging on the train fence to your right. In the next clump of trees to your right, a few steps from the path, is Heart Eyes. Be sure to cover it back up with bark and leaves!

LETTERBOX #3 “WINKING FACE”
Continue on the path in the same direction. You will pass the parallel bars, the incline ramp and the horizontal ladder exercise. Keep going straight, closest to the train tracks when the path splits. Notice that the lampposts all have a number on them? Look for Lampost #9. Stop here and go off the path toward the train tracks. Head to the cement platform. Stand on the cement platform and look up at the top of the fence. Wink, wink…do you see it? Be sure to tuck this box out of sight!

LETTERBOX #4 “TIRED FACE”
You aren’t getting tired are you? Head back to the path, and continue in the direction you were going. Look for lamppost #2 this time. When you find it, stop and take 5 big steps backwards. Turn towards the train tracks. Do you see the big tree with ivy on it? Tired Face is taking a rest in a safe pocket of this tree. Be sure to cover it back up with bark and leaves!

LETTERBOX #5 “NO COMMENT FACE”
Get back on the path and head to the end of the walk. It’s really an entrance to the Exercise Trail from John street. If you stand between the brick pillars of the gate, look for a big tree that is missing it’s top that wants to be a part of the entrance gate. LOOK FIRST to make sure there aren’t any squirrels napping in the hidey hole. Were you nervous? Meh. Maybe. Be sure to hide it well when you put it back!

LETTERBOX #6 “SAD FACE”
This time, head back West on the same path you were on before. In Lynbrook, Character Counts! See the sign? Remember to Respect not only other people, but also this great path that we share with others. When the path splits, head to the right. Then, take the turn left back towards the “Horizontal ladder” exercise. Stand at the tree in the “island”. Look North. See the trees shaped like a V? Your last box is in the armpit of the V. Is it a Victory? Or are you SAD that this letterbox adventure is over. Be sure to cover it back up with bark and leaves!
