Go to the Jenni & Kyle preserve parking lot, off of Post road. Find the four season mosaic. Head in the direction of Winter and Fall to the middle of the two ponds. Read about life beneath the surface. Find the green trail to the south. Walk past the bird houses to the root line crossing the trail. This should take about 60 steps from where the trail changed color. Follow the root to its source and look around, into the wooden cave. Here you will see your first box. You have reached the Castle Gardens letterbox! *seal and cover the box, just the way you found it.

To find the 2nd letter box named "Dragon Hatchery", return to the path and continue in the same original direction. Keep walking past the bend and big tree. Follow the river. Proceed on the main path through the tree tunnel. Where the tunnel ends, you will notice red stemmed dogwood trees and shrubs. Follow the path of these trees until you see a medium tree overhanging the path. Stop at where the branches lean over the path (260 steps from the big bend). There will be three sibling trees. The first tree seems too big, the second tree seems to small, but the third one seems just right. The founders picked this tree for the hatchery because it was safe. They mimicked the placement of a dragon's nest, but they didn't put it too high, because they wanted to be able to reach it. They covered it in bark, and are relying on visitors to keep it hidden from the public. You have found the Dragon Hatchery letterbox! *Make sure to re-cover this box, so it is not seen from the path. (P.S. These dragons will grow to 10 human steps long!)

Return to the trail, and walk in the same direction that you were walking before. Pass the bench, and follow the curve. Cross over the bridge, and ahead, you will see the moat, with the shorter drawbridge. Cross over the drawbridge. Walk eight adult dragon body lengths. On your right, about half a dragon length off the trail, you will see a twisted ruin of a tree. Check the back end of the hollowed out ruin. Lift out two pieces of bark, and you will find the Dragon Madness box. (This box was hidden during March Madness 2019, so jetexplorers were obsessed with basketball at the time) *cover this box up, try not to break the log and carefully re-hide this Dragon Madness box. Congratulations!

Hike length: 1 mile
