On Rt. 140, which is Main St. across from Snow's Supply (111 Main St.) is the parking lot for William Hocking Memorial Trail.
Enter the trail;soon seeing white blazes. Follow it to a post at a Y; go left. Careful on slippery planks. Follow that to a T and go right. The bridge is slippery when wet. You'll see stonewalls on your distant right which lead to a right turn that you'll take.
From the turn go 42 paces on the gentle uphill S shaped trail. See on your right the largest oak/maple tree 3 feet off trail behind a slender pine; on the left edge of trail see a small double oak/maple with a dying sister on it's back. From this double's right side bushwack into the woods 26 steps to downed, dying, slender limbs. X marks the spot.
Continue on the trail ignoring a left leading to houses, in a few minutes you will be at a familiar post.
From here go straight back to the parking lot.
Hike length: 1 mile
