Go here & read about one remarkable woman’s survival story. (It includes a photo of her gravestone) https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=29865354
Then go visit her grave at Evergreen Cemetery.
From Prince & Oracle Rd, head south on Oracle. Turn right (west) on Ft Lowell into Evergreen Cemetery. Pass the first set of graves & take the first left onto the tiny cemetery “street”. You are interested in the quadrant on your left (bounded by Oracle on the east & Ft Lowell on the north). Go to the end of this 1st quadrant & park (don’t cross the “bridge” over the wash). Starting from the SW corner of this quadrant, walk east about 4 rows & then north about 25 rows. Locate the gravestone of Larcena Ann Pennington Page (It took me a couple tries to find her). From there, look around & find the largest, closest prickly pear cactus & head over there. Notice the tiny lamb gravestone for baby Frank. So sad. From here, head east. You’ll run into a set of bushes. Follow the bushes until you see the street sign announcing the wash. Look for the box hidden in the bushes. Good luck!
