What a great Fort to explore. Pay your fee, and go see the fort. When done there, drive down and park in lot for the Gardens to see them and find the box. This is one of the most historic forts in the USA. It is one I have always wanted to visit, and now I have!!!
Directions:
Get to fort entry. Pay fee and get map. Go to parking area for the Gardens.
To the Letterbox:
Walk toward gardens. Look right when get there and see the white picket fenced area. Walk to that. Go to back right corner of fence. Now go right, past the big tree to a small tree on edge of grass, with stump in front. Box is in the stump, on front side.
Hike length: 0.5 miles
