Difficulty: Easy
Distance to Letterbox: 100 yards
Great fort to visit. Built in 1692, it was the largest fort in New England during its time. Box is in old cemetery, which is also fund to explore. FEE
Directions:
From Hwy 1, go south on Hwy 129, then stay left on Hwy 130. Just before Hwy 32, go right on Huddle Rd (sign for fort). Follow signs to the fort (right on old fort road, then right again on colonial pemaquid rd). Go to visitor center and pay fee, park here (see fort after box)
To the Letterbox:
From parking, go opposite from Visitor center across road to the far right end of cemetery. Stand at sign for "The old burying ground". Go right along the rock wall, passing 2 entry columns, and on to corner of cemetery wall (near cement parking beams off to right). At the corner of cemetery wall, look on inside of corner, box is under rocks.
Hike length: 0.5 miles
