This letterbox is part of the GO and Build a Better World! program in Adams County. It will be available from June 3, 2017 to July 29, 2017. Further details about the program may be found at www.goadams.org.
The GO and Build a Better World! program requires you to search for up to 15 “landmarks” – wooden posts with engraved plates on them, instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please use a colored pencil or crayon to carefully rub the impression onto your GO and Build a Better World! rubbing sheet, available for free at any Adams County Library.
This letterbox is located on the property of Hollabaugh Bros. Farm Market and may only be accessed during their summer hours of operation. GO Adams! level of difficulty = Moderate
- Please note and adhere to the hours of operation, as listed on the website, for this location.
- Start at the front of the market store and walk around the right side to the patio area.
- Walk along the outside of the fence to the sloped back lawn.
- Locate the telephone pole and Black Walnut tree in the distance. Walk downhill through the trees to the pole.
- As you are facing the pond, turn right on the stone driveway and follow it until you come to a path on your left. Follow this stone path uphill through the vegetable gardens.
- Continue along the stone path as it enters the woods.
- After passing through a short section of woods, you will come to a Y in the path. Turn left here.
- Orchard trees should be on your right. At the second tree, turn left and the post you seek will be at the base of this tall tree.
- Return the way you came, remembering to stay on the stone driveway until you reach the telephone pole and pond.
Hike length: 0.5 miles
