Parking is tricky for this hike, but there is an athletic field parking lot directly across Route 202 from the Ramapo College Sculpture studio. The hike begins just behind this sculpture studio. (you are not supposed to park in the sculpture lot). Running parallel to 202 you will see a small path that leads into a field directly behind the sculpture building. By following this path through the field and into a wooded area you will be lead towards the small river and in just a few short minutes, come across a tumbled down rock wall. A cleared area inside the rock wall will reveal a very small graveyard. This is where the Hopper and Havermeyer families buried their dead slaves as well as freed black and American Indian servants. Seek out the grave stone of Samuel Jennings. Nearby you will find three of the youngest residents of this grave yard share a stone. From this stone turn directly around and take 8 paces toward the leaning tree. The lean of the tree shelters what you seek hidden beneath stones of it's own.

Hike length: 0.5 miles
