Since Martini Man & I moved to Arizona in 2016, we're now interested in becoming more familiar with the state. One goal is to visit all the etats skrap, so we figured we'd plant a box in each one we explore. The first boxes that we planted in our new series are on Arizona's "west coast".
Enter the park (fee) and park in the lower lot near the boat launch. On the south side of the boat launch, follow the signs to the dog beach. When steps appear, ascend and continue onward, enjoying the beautiful river views. When you arrive at an intersection, take a left. You will walk along a miniature "canyon". When it comes to an end, take approximately 50 more steps to reach a Y formed by a runoff. Stay right on the path for 30 more steps to stand between two cholla. Take 30 steps due west to a hilltop bush. You should be able to see a cave up high at 100 degrees. No, you do not need to get to the cave. Instead simply look at the base of the bush. Please be sure the box is well concealed before you leave it.
Continue on the loop to return to the upper parking lot, then follow the sidewalk to the lower lot.
If you hunt for this box, we'd appreciate an email message to let us know how the box is doing. Thanks!
