You don't see many lighthouses in the desert. For this one, follow COWPATTI's directions into Laborcita Canyon:
At the corner of Hwy 54/70 meet with Hwy 82, Go East on Hwy 82 for 2 miles. Make a left hand turn at N. Florida (caution Light) onto La Luz Road. Drive North into the village. Once you leave the village, cross over the bridge. Then take a sharp right (horseshoe turn) This turns into Laborcita Canyon Road follow this east. Thanks COWPATTI, I owe ya on this one.
Just past Fresnal Canyon Road, on the South side, you will see a telephone pole. Count 5 reflectors on metal poles then pull into the pull out on the South side of the road, or the dirt road on the North side of the road. On the North side of the road there is a sign with the image of a truck going down a steep grade. You should be at the crest of this hill. If you gaze to the South, you will see what appears to be a lighthouse at the La Luz Pottery Factory.
On the South side of the road you should see a large square rock directly in line with this lighthouse. To your right will be a creosote bush. In the center of this bush, beneath a SPOR, you will find the "Beacon in the Desert".
Please make sure to cover completely with SPOR before leaving. Happy Boxing!!
