Puzzler #3
Rockwell Trail
Colebrook CT
.44 mile loop trail (easy)

Directions:
From Colebrook Center (where Route 183, Route 182A and Smith Hill Rd. meet) Take Route 182A by the Colebrook Store. Drive .6 miles to a log gate on right. On a tree is a sign "Rockwell Trail" and a white tube with "Trail Maps". (there are no maps in the tube, but there is a wonderfully detailed 2 page history of the land and what it's been used for and what they have done with it).

From the intersection of Route 182 (Stillman Hill Rd.), Pinney St., and Route 182A, take Route 182A .6 miles to log gate on left.

This is Puzzler # 3. If you haven't done a puzzler box series before, the rules are simple. Find each box in order. When you have all the stamps and you say them all together, you should be able to answer the question, "ALL PUPPIES AND KITTENS ARE THIS?"
The first 3 stamps are small micro boxes, with just stamps in them. The logbook (with answer) is located in the 4th box.

As you start down the trail with the double white blazes, past the rock with the plaque on it. You will pass 3 cut logs on your right with a big hole in the ground. Just past them on your left, is many rotting logs and a large 2 sister (Medusa looking) tree. Most of the bark is missing half way up the tree. Go to the back of this tree. About 6' up, on the right arm, behind the bark is Box #1.

Back on the trail, continue straight past the enormous pine tree on your right. Take the trail to the right, up the hill to the man made log bench. Box #2 is under the backside of the bench.

Continue on the trail until it takes a sharp turn to the left. Just past the 2 sister tree at the end of the turn, you will see a square white rock being propped up by a smaller gray rock. Box #3 is behind the white rock under some sticks.

Follow the trail past the "Serpent/Eel Log" on your right. You will come to a long flat sided rock with a seat on your left. At the end of this rock is a cluster of 3-4 smaller rocks. Box #4 is under the flat rock in this cluster. Did you figure out the answer?

When you are done, just follow the trail to finish the loop and go right to get back to your car... Happy Letterboxing!!!
