Find ERNIE MAXWELL SCENIC TRAIL San Bernardino National Forest, Trail: This 2.5-mile route travels through a forest of Jeffrey, ponderosa and coulter pines. It offers views of Suicide Rock and Tahquitz Peak. Level: Intermediate. Permits/Fees: A National Forest Adventure Pass is required to park at the trailhead off Fern Valley Road.
How to get there: Follow signs to Humber Park..this scenic trail starts on your right before the parking lot of Humber Park
After passing the trail head sign, walk west straight down, over a pipe, to the chain link fence in front of you. Beyond the fence you’ll see a large green water tank.
Go to the southwest corner of fence and turn to 100 degrees. Southeast of the large boulder is a multiple trunk tree. Search in the middle of the trunk under a rock & leaves.
The trail is really lovely & should be explored. Be sure to have water with you.
