Fraser River Heritage Park.

Take the Lougheed highway just East of downtown Mission and find Stave Lake Road. Turn up Stave Lake Rd. and go up to 5th Ave. Turn right, the park is at the end of 5th Ave.

Difficulty: Easy to medium, there are some steep grades.
30-40 minutes round trip.

From the parking lot look across the field and see a very large rock. Begin at the rock. Head up the gravel walk to the Grotto, a beautiful white six-sided building built in 1892. Have a look at the Grotto, and head back down the gravel path a short way to find a trail to your left. Head down the trail, follow the wooden hand-rail, down, down, down. Now you must go left or right, go right. You will see a cement structure to your left, cross over it,follwing the green chain-link fence and go up the path into the forest. Continue along until you see a trail to your right, take it, then take the trail on your immediate left. Mosey along until you see a group of small cedars ahead with the trail moving uphill and a path to the right with a small wood sign that says "practice" with a picture of a bicycle. Take the "practice" trail. Keep on until you come to a clearing and a 3-way fork. Choose the middle trail. At the start of the middle trail count 15 paces, STOP. Don't move. Now look to the path going to your right and up. With your eye, scan across the ridge to the right of that trail and notice a Maple tree with 2 holes in it down low. Check those holes! Once you've found what you seek, dont go back down the bank but continue on to the trail ahead. Turn left. Then right. You can now see the parking lot where you began.
