Caution ….. Crossing
We’ve all seen caution signs along the highway. Some suggest reduced speed limits, some indicate the need for extra vigilance because people or deer might dart into your path. This letterbox is for a sign that attests to the rural area in which it is found. It always makes me smile because it seems a bit absurd to me, as far as hazards go. But, with more and more of the small farmers going out of business, there is seldom a need for these signs and that is no laughing matter. This caution sign is a novelty in an area where the situation used to be quite common and commemorates the dairy farm still in operation here. Sadly, it is one of the few remaining in the area. In the summertime, around 8 o’clock in the morning, I’ve seen the hazard crossing the road. Will you?
Clues: To find Caution ….. Crossing letterbox, travel north on Rt. 62 in Mason County through the towns of Point Pleasant, Mason, and New Haven. Between the 42 and 43 mile markers, you will see this unusual caution sign and soon after, turn left into Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Drive between two large shrubs, turn to the right, and stop between the next two large shrubs. Open the car door and reach into the shrub to find a camouflaged zip-lock bag. Reseal well and make sure it is wedged into the shrub tight so that wind does not move it out of its hiding place.
While you are in the area, you might want to also find "How It's Made - Electricity - Hydrogeneration" letterbox just up the road. Let me know of the condition of the box and how your visit to the area was by using the contact the placer feature. Happy Letterboxing!
