Arcadia, the birthplace of Harriet Quimby, is located on the shore of Lake Michigan in Manistee County. It was here, that Henry Starke established Trinity Lutheran Church, which is called Arcadia's most prominent structure and a Michigan state historic site.
Arcadia is also home to Camp Arcadia, a Lutheran family retreat founded in 1922. Camp Arcadia is one of my daughter's favorite places, and she has attended teen week for several years. Because she graduated from high school this year, she wasn't eligible to attend teen week again.
However we did make the trip to Arcadia to take a couple of her friends up to camp. While my daughter had a chance to visit with some friends, I had an opportunity to plant a letterbox in one of her favorite spots in Michigan!
Travel on M-22 north of Arcadia approximately 2 miles to the Scenic Outlook. Stop to enjoy the great view of Lake Michigan. It is truly breath-taking. You will find the letterbox located at the south end of the parking lot, in a bush behind the last wooden fence post.
This is a series of boxes that will be hidden by Steppin'Left, Steppin'Right and Horse n' Around. We hope you will search for all 26!
