This letterbox is located at the Dahl Sanctuary, adjacent to LL Bean and across the street from Burger King. Parking is a small dirt lane in front of a metal gate (there is no sign). A great 10 minute walk in the woods!
Once past the gate, take the path that goes straight (not to the left). Follow the path down, through a large open field and re-enter the path in the woods beyond. Follow the path all the way until it ends on a rocky beach on the Saco River.
When on the beach, notice the two dead logs that form an upright “X” on the beach. At the base of the log pointing towards the woods, there is a dead log in the sand (also pointing towards the woods). Stand at the end of this log closest to the woods.
Walk 18 kid steps (15 adult steps) towards the woods in the direction the logs are pointing.
Turn 90 degrees to the left and see a double-trunked birch tree in the wood line. Walk 27 kid steps (20 adult steps) to this birch tree. The Shining Stars are located behind the tree under some branches!
