Starting in Port Angeles go west on E Front Street. Front street will turn into Marine Dr. As you keep following the road you will come to Nippon MP Paper Industries. The road may seem like it is going into the mill but if you keep following it, it will just go right through. Now you are on the spit. At the end of the spit is the coast guard station but it is not open to the public. As you go through the mill the speed limit will be 15 MPH. as you leave the mill you will come out on Ediz Hook Road. Look ahead and you will see a 35MPH speed limit sign. The spit is a very popular place for bike riders and walkers. From the 35 MPH Speed limit sign count 9 Bike Lane Signs. At the 9th sign notice 4 tall wooden pillars. Park here. From this point you can view Port Angeles and the mountains behind. Not to mention numerous water foul and some of the harbor activity. Now look for Wooldridge and Jones. Sit between them and look 200 Degrees. Stand up and take 22 steps in this directions. Now look 250 degrees and spy 5 stacked logs. Follow the road to this spot with the logs between you and the water. Holding the logs in place will be 6 vertical pillars. Stand at the pillar farthest to the right. Directly to your right there will be a pile of large rocks. At the base (near you feet) . Hidden by smaller rocks you will find the Puddle Pirate Letterbox!
The name of this letterbox is not intended to insult or make fun of the United States Coast Guard. I just thought it would be a fun name for a letterbox!!!!!
