As of the 10th of February - this letterbox is missing. It will be replaced as soon as possible.
Mission City Memorial Park – Santa Clara, CA
You should park on Winchester Ave. in front of the park. There are several entrances- so be careful to pick the correct one. Dogs are allowed on a leash. It is best to go later in the day or if possible, after the 5:00 PM closing time when there are very few visitors. Also, there are automatic sprinklers that turn on without notice, so be prepared to get out of the way!
Enter by the home for the infirm
And travel straight ahead to see what you can learn
The red fence will guide you
Make the first left that you can
Start your trip at the “S” to learn about the “man.”
Passing section “P,”
The Oaks drape the sides so gracefully
Soon you will pass a sundial
Stop to check the time and rest awhile
Pine trees now line your way
You’ll see the maintenance house just a few yards away
On the other side – the field of grass
A place of rest for the future souls that pass
Continue on around
Note the different names that abound
The massive eucalyptus trees stand proud
In amongst the long gone crowd
Past the “Greeks” and watering hole
Continue on sweeping to the left my dear soul
Remember always take the perimeter path
And thus you will succeed with a little math
Under the canopy of trees
Along side the puddles of leaves
Keep walking along the outside path
Less you incur his wrath!
Turning to the right and left and left again (when you must)
Past Kidder, Emerson, Henderson, Allen and Smith
Follow along as it is the final thrust
The path forward will finally end, and a turn to the right
Is the final path of the night
Just 53 steps and you will find him – Solon Flack
Facing Winchester – the gentlewoman weeps on his plaque
But continue on to the cherub circle and look to the back
You will see a magnificent California pepper tree
Look along the knurly trunk; you will be sure to find me!
