Deukmejian Park is a lovely spot with great views of the Verdugo Valley. There are a lot of trails, a bit of local history along with some nice tables for picnics and other events. I have witnessed more than one wedding on this picturesque spot.
This is our first letterbox so please feel free to send us any comments or suggestions. This small hike is great for kids probably 6 years old and up. It might be a little bit steep for younger ones. You would have to make the call. Here we go.
From the parking lot, head to the big stone barn and proceed along the wide gravel path up hill. Continue up the cement stairs where you will see the hiking information sign. Proceed up the gravel trail.
After the chain link fence, go right at the second clear trail. There is a very large boulder at its head. Follow the trail to the left and down.
Cross the stream bed and head to the concrete retaining wall and head up the hill keeping the wall on your right. On your left is a very old oak tree. There is a large boulder next to the base. The box is behind this boulder, under a pile of football sized rocks.
Don't forget to hide it well again, when you are finished and we encourage you to continue along the trail and have an explore around the area.
**special note, there is a bee hive in the hollow tree in the summer. If you don't bother them, they won't bother you, but just know they may be around.***
Thanks
