A Fictional Letter that contains the clues:

Dear Friend,

My spirit continues along the shores of Lake Superior in my beloved Keweenaw County. Dearest Etta Esrey left a place, named for her but meant for me, where I will always be free to watch and wait for my love’s return.
Although set apart, I learn about the outside world by listening to weary travelers and delighted sojourners who take a rest at my peaceful park. And all day long and late at night I climb the many steps aloft to search asea for the vessel that took him away from me.
Hidden within my sanctuary I guard a special prize for such as you, those with ardor and intrepid heart. Tread carefully, my friend, and walk with me awhile. Perhaps you’ll feel my presence there with every step you take. Follow me up the eastern stair to the stone path from which you have a bird’s eye view of the grandeur and radiance of this Great Lake. Take a rest within the small shelter you approach on your starboard side and breathe deeply of the fresh air- a pleasure I will vicariously share with you. Further down the path stands a tree with the marks of many woodpeckers on your port side. So many times I have walked this path with my beloved. If you look carefully, you can see his footprint still. When you reach the western stair, take one last look over the rocky precipice and at 210 degrees you will see a pine tree divided at the top as my love and I will forever be split apart by circumstance. Yet beneath the root of that pine you will find what I have left for you. Please leave the stamp of your presence and take with you proof of what you found here. Carry with you also my hopes for treasures found and love’s reunion.

In memoriam,
Anna Scott Block
