This box is the first of many to be posted. We are hoping to have placed 300 boxes in Norton by the Town's 300th anniversary to help celebrate. Please email me at melmac76us@yahoo.com if the boxes are missing, need updates, or are in poor condition. Thanks and happy hunting!

George Leonard Mansion
Prior to 1700, Major George Leonard built the Leonard Mansion which stood until the early 1960's. It is said that Leonard made a league with the devil in order to acquire great wealth. He promised his body to the devil when he died. Leonard became very rich and an influential citizen of the town. In 1716 when Leonard died, the devil came to claim his body. Surprised in the act, the devil climbed out a window. He jumped so hard on some rocks , he left footprints there. One can see those footprints on the rock by the parking lot of the Solomonese School. The mansion was situated at the corner of West Main and North Worcester Streets where Chartley Corner Plaza is today.
To Find the Letterbox:
Upon entering the Solmonese School campus you will see a red silo. Beyond the silo heading towards the school's office enterance is a flagpole. With your back to the flagpole facing the silo, look to your right. You will see a path heading towards a large rock. Head down that path to the largest rock on the "island". You will see the Devil's footprint on this rock. With the footprint in front of you, head around this rock to your right. You will encounter a smaller rock on your right. The letterbox is tucked under the ledge of the rock located behind this third rock.
