Another in my 'rock collection' of boxes. The others are Great Stoneface and Frederick Hink Parks.
Just above the top of Solano in Berkeley, but before the tunnel, take a left, going north on Contra Costa Ave. In the middle of a block is Contra Costa rock, on the righthand side. It's huge, you can't miss it! This park was donated to the city of Berkeley 90 years ago, when the Thousand Oaks area was being developed.
Facing the rock, take the northern stairs up, which lead to steps in the stone that will go to the top of the rock. What a view! Admire that for a while, then take the steps down the back of the rock where there is a little lawn area. To your left is a nice oak tree. To the right are two smaller rocks. In the crevice between them is your prize.
Good luck and let me know when you've found the box!
