~My "girl" is a year older. This birthday box is extra special this year as Baby D had a very tough year. There was a spell that we did not know if she was going to make it to this birthday or not. Since she turned 4 she has been back and forth to the vet many times. As a matter of fact, the wonderful vet that gave her back her spunk and health is just up the road from here at Bolton Veterinary Hospital. Our most sincere thanks go out to Dr. White. He got to the bottom of her health issues and has done wonders. Our poor girl has suffered through Lyme Disease, Erylichiosis, hip dysplasia, two torn knee ligaments and emergency surgey to remove a mass in her bladder that turned out to be TEN bladder stones. She has also been diagnosed with an auto immune disease that she will have to battle for the rest of her life. We seem to be keeping it under control through meds, diet and exercise-fingers crossed here. We have even found out that she is allergic to the very leaves that fall to the ground each year!!!! No matter what, she has always had a desire to go out "boxing with me. There came a time that she would/could not walk and it just broke my heart. I actually could not go out without here. We go a little slower nowadays and don't always stay out for very long, but my girl is by my side and we keep on 'boxing and enjoying the great outdoors. This box was a pure pleasure to put out and I hope to be putting out birthday boxes for her for a lot more years!!!! I just love my little "girl". When you see the image, you will understand why I wrote this long introduction.

Directions:
From the spot where route 6 and route 44 meet in Bolton Notch to merge onto I-384, stay in the far right lane. Just before the first exit you will see a sharp right hand turn to go down to the boat launch, the rail trail and Freja park. This turn is very quick and is rather tricky to make, so please be careful. At the bottom of the hill you will come to a parking area. Park here.
Clues:
After parking, go through the yellow gate and turn left on the Airline Trail.
Very quickly you will see a yellow trail on your right going steeply uphill, take it.
As you ascend, keep looking on the left for where the yellow trail makes a left turn into the woods. When you find it, go left.
You will be walking through lots of Mountain Laurel with many stumps on the trail, so please watch your step. After walking contiunally uphill, you will come to a short downhill section, just after a very pretty cluster of White Birch trees.
When the trail starts to go uphill again you need to be on the lookout for where it takes a hard left turn (denoted by the offset blazes on a tree on the right side of the trail). When you get to ths spot-Stop!
Look to your right and you will see a rock ledge.
Walk ~ 40 steps along the left side of this ledge from the trail and stop.
You should see a dead, V, twin sister tree in front of you. Go up on top of the ledge here to a living, V, twin sister tree. Look between the rocks at the base of the living sisters unders leaves and rocks to find Baby D's newest birthday box.
Please re-hide this box well.
