Natural Bridge State Park

This is a very special letterbox for me. Not only is it my first letterbox planted, but it is planted at the park where I was married (My ceremony was held in the rock quarry). This is an easy short hike with some neat history.

On Route 8 North/Union Street, right after Beaver Mill take a left at the enterance to Natural Bridge State Park. The park is open 9am-5pm Memorial day to Columbus day. During closed hours, you will need to park at the bottom of the road where you first pull in. During business hours I highly suggest parking at the top by the visitors center ($5 parking fee) and checking out the site.

FROM THE TOP OF THE PARK: You can either follow the walkways around and check out the beauty or follow the roadway. When you see a very large set of steps leading to the bottom of the quarry follow those to the bottom. You will continue on down the road until you see a trail on your right side that leads between the stream and road.

FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE PARK: Follow the roadway up past the first enterance gate. You'll pass over a bridge and waterfall on your left. Shortly after the waterfall you'll go through (or around if the park is closed) another roadway gate and come to a trailhead on your left. It follows down between the stream and the road.

CONTINUE: You're going to follow this trail until you see an old set of concrete pillars on your left side. Face the pillars and count from your left to the 6th row. You will need to go almost to the edge of the dropoff. Count in to the 5th pillar before the cliff on your right side. Check out behind the fallen pillar buried under brush.

Please make sure you tuck it back away and cover it with whatever you can. Be careful of the cliff as well!!

Let me know what you thought of the park, and if the box is in need of assistance.
