Location: Rose Oaks County Park

Located in northwest Oakland County, 623 Acre Rose Oaks became the 11th Oakland County Park in 1995. The purchase was made possible by a Michigan Resources Trust Fund grant and parks commission capital improvement budget funds. Rose Oaks preserves three different ecosystems, including approximately 200 acres of valuable wetlands. The sight is a cross-section of meadows, woods, wetlands, and several small glacial lakes. Deer, Raccoons, waterfowl, birds and most wildlife common to southern Michigan may be found within the borders of Rose Oaks County Park. Rose Oaks remains undeveloped but future plans may include swimming, fishing, picnicking, and cross-county skiing. Hiking trails are provided. Rose oaks is bordered generally by Fish Lake Road on the west, Buckhorn Lake Road on the east, south of Rattalee Lake Road on the north and Rose Center Road on the south, in Rose Township.

Vehicles must display a valid daily or annual parking pass. The passes can be obtained at Oakland County Parks, Bass Pro Outdoor World, Independence Oaks County Park, and the Rose Township Offices (204 Franklin Street, Holly Michigan 48442, 248-634-7291)

Start at the parking lot (off of Fish Lake Rd.) and head toward marker #2 that is what you first must do. Grab a map or use the marked posts it’s up to you. Now at 2 you’re almost there walk toward 10 if you dare. Now at 10 follow the path to post 11. The trail here is just a loop go down hill and enjoy the view. Your quest now is almost through. Continue the loop to where someone used to cook pick up a slab of rock and take a look.

Special Considerations:

Bring bug spray the flies and mosquitoes can be bad. Pens are included in the boxes but please bring you own ink pad. These two boxes are the first placed by the 5Ms. Please feel free to e-mail with any comments.
