Directions: Take Hwy 20 East from Nevada City for 23 miles. Turn left on Bowman Lake Road and drive approx. 4 mi. Immediately after crossing the South Fork Yuba River Bridge park in the small lot on the right. Follow the trail to the beautiful emerald pool.
Clue: Find the two sets of double trees right at the waters edge. Someone has built a 4 ft. rock pile directely between and a little behind them. The stamp was carved from a photo taken as I stood there looking out across the water. Do an about face, walk 40 to 45 steps at approx. 220° (it is hard to keep a straight line when walking on rocks. Turn right - you should be facing a large rock held in the clutches of a large tree or a large tree resting on a large rock. See photo. Discreetly remove the smaller rock to the left of the large one and reach behind it. Please replace well as this is a very popular place in the summer. If it is warm take a refreshing dip in the crystal clear emerald water.
