Kaia is a name believed to mean “of the earth” in several languages. This box is placed in honor of my granddaughter named Kaia.

From U. S. Highway 50, take Exit 60 and drive south on Sly Park Road. After passing the large sign on the left for the entrance to “Sly Park Recreation Area”, continue on Sly Park Road for 1.9 miles to the Cedar Park Trail on the left and park there. It is across the highway from the new U. S. Forest Service Sly Park Fire Station.

From the south end of the parking lot, walk on the first paved trail to the left. After passing a viewing platform on the left, continue on the paved path for about 225 steps to the first dirt trail on the left. From that intersection go at 60 degrees for 18 steps to a short, hollow, sawed-off stump, about 10 steps in from the paved trail. It is hidden inside the stump, under rocks and covered with plant debris. Be alert for snakes.

Please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag), and put all of it INSIDE the box. Please rehide the box well under the bark and plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.

I will not be able to check on this box very often; so, please let me know if you find it or if it needs attention or is missing:

Please record your find at or at .
