UPDATE Box 1 replaced 07/13/2014
Box 2 replaced 07/13/2008
Box 3 replaced again 05/31/2009

This series of boxes are based on an Australia theme. They are name after a famous rock formation (3 pinnacles) near Sydney. So why did I plant them in Costa Mesa – because Costa Mesa has a Sister city, Wyndham (previously Werribee until merged into Wyndham), located west of Melbourne in southeastern Australian.

Box 1. Opera House
This box is located at the Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa. Park at the South Coast Plaza off Bristol Street and Town Center Drive; and walk across the foot bridge (unity Bridge) over Bristol towards the Arts Center (and hotel). On the other side continue along the path to the South Coast Repertory, and go left to the corner and turn right uphill along the sculpted bushes to the “Reclining Figure”. As you begin to walk back down hill along the straight wall, the first box is located in the corner of the large hedge between the second and third small triangle hedges, in the corner nearest the third small triangle hedge about 4-6 inches above walkway surface. Be very respectful of the bushes. Be very discrete, many eyes may be upon you including the camera up by the reclining lady.

Box 2. Koala
This box is located under the northwest side, of the metal base, of the dual light lamp post, near the southeast end of the parking lot of the town’s Australia-themed restaurant on Newport Blvd between 15th and 19th streets. Park next to lamppost to block other from seeing you retrieve the box, and watch for others at the back wall.

Box 3. Boomerang
From the Street whose name is the same as the Australian state that Costa Mesa’s sister city resides, head south on the first main AVENUE (begins with a P) East of "Kangaroo Jump" (business), and turn right on the first prime-numbered STREET (if you get to 17th st you have gone too far) until you get to a small hidden park on you left (whose name would suggest that you may see boats nearby – but I did not see any). The box is located just inside this entrance of the park. Follow the fence on the right into the park, follow it to the right when it turns, and when it turns to the right again partly up the hill; the box is about a foot around the corner along the fence under a large green rock and some leaves. Although the bushes provide some protection from peering eyes, please be very quick and discrete and rehide well.
