The wind blowing over the grass and the fields of corn; its the prettiest green wave around. As a tribute to the central Illinois landscape, the "mascot" of Mattoon High School is the "Green Wave".
Located at the Douglas Hart Nature Center, 2204 DeWitt Avenue East, Mattoon, Illinois. About 1/2 mile from the I-57 exit at mile marker 190.

Pets allowed on leash.
Take 16 east of I-57 for 1/4 mile. Turn north on Lerna and then west on DeWitt.
Near the pond is an overlook facing west. It offers a great view of the green wave of both prairie field and corn field. But the box is placed elsewhere.
Look in the sycamore 330 degrees from the boulder near the windmill.
Bring your own ink ... Green is best!
