BOX HAS BEEN REPORTED MISSING
Here's the deal, we went searching for a box listed for Atlas Quest Premium Members and only found remnants of the original box so we planted a new box that we had brought instead. The original planter confirmed that what we had found were indeed parts of her box.
Go to Griffith Park Observatory -- when we were there it was still under renovation so we couldn't get near it. Park on what is the east edge of the parking lot (farthest away from the observatory itself).
There is a trail that goes back up the mountain. There were two markers at the beginning of the trail, one was for George Harrison and the other is for the Charlie Turner Trailhead.
Go up the trail, past the Berlin Forest on the left, and keep going a little farther. There is an old pipe or aqueduct that goes up the ridge, you can see the pipe coming out of the ground. At the front tip/edge of the ridge, overlooking the trail is a bush. I sat next to the bush and placed the box on the side away from the observatory and covered it with loose rocks.
It was a pretty busy area in March of 2006 probably due to spring break, lovely weather and the fact that the observatory wasn't open and all you could do was walk up the hill and look at it and take pictures of the Hollywood sign on the next hill over. Be sure to carefully replace the box.
My thanks to Q from Burbank who helped me with these clues from 2,000 miles away. I believe she gets first finder status.
