*Coming from Hebron Center, go RT 66 toward Columbia. Go past "TEDS" grocery store on your left. Go up a hill take Hunt Rd. on your right. (There is a small commuter parking lot directly across the street from Hunt Rd.) go to your first stop sign and take the road on your right. Wells Woods Rd. go until you see the "Dead end sign". Take a left at this sign this is Lake Ridge Rd. you will see a big rock with the words, "Island Woods" carved into it. Drive carefully this neighborhood has alot of dog walkers and kids in it. Go straight on this road all the way until the road completely stops and there is only woods in front of you. You can park here.
*Enter White blazed trail to your LEFT when facing the woods.
*You will go threw a log on the ground that is cut in two so you can pass through it. you will see a few of these through out the trial.
Continue on ..You will pass a stone wall on you right,Then another section of stone wall a little futher along.
*Stay with the white blaze trail.
*You will eventually notice where the trail Y's STAY RIGHT! but look alittle ahead and to your left through the trees. (if the leaves are off the trees you can see it with no problem) Up in the trees there is a deer hunters tree stand. Walk quietly you might just see a deer!
*Stay on the trail to the right of that. You will cross over a large flat rock imbedded in the center of the trail. you will come to a place on the trail where remnants of a large tree down on the left of the trail. across on the opposite side is a smaller white blazed tree. STOP. Look to 195 degrees. You will see a 3 sister tree with a large gray rock on eithor side of it approxomatly 40 steps off the trail..
* Go to it.
*In the center of its base where they join together , my LB box is hidden under old branches and a large rock. Sign my log book, stamp yours with my stamp and you'll find a small bonus surprise inside for you to take if you wish to.
Continue back to the trail and go in the same the direction you've been going.
* To find my "Toad-ly into Letterboxing" LB...continue on the white blazed trail until you some to a stonewall on your left. Go to the opening on the left of the wall,
*Turn right and walk 4 paces on the outside of this three sided stonewall. Look in the wall where there are 3 flat stones hinding it....replace well and contiune on the same trail in the same direction and you'll see you car where you left it just a few feet away!
* This trail does a complete circle right back to your car.
*Hope you liked your Hike and my LB's of.... "Smile, your where the cars can't go!" AND "Toad-ly into letterboxing"
Your fellow Letterboxer, "Hike UR-GO Home" and my dogs, Dexter the yellow Lab and Piper the Pug :-)
