Splash Down I-95 Nb Rest Stop Titusville, FL
Sadly, indications are that this one's missing.
This box can be found at the rest stop on the Northbound side of I-95 at Mile Marker 226 (or so I think) just north of Titusville, Florida.
If you’re as old as I am, you’ll remember watching the ships out in the ocean, waiting to pick up the capsule containing the astronauts after they parachuted to earth. The frogmen would leap into the sea, swim over to the capsule, and let the travelers out. This microbox commemorates that event.
Directions from the car parking area in front of the building:
Pass through the rest room building.
*Carefully* cross the truck parking area.
Find the sidewalk with silver rails and follow it to the picnic area.
Turn left at the end of the sidewalk.
Pass 2 picnic tables and talk until you reach light pole #16.
Count 53 steps farther (away from the picnic tables) and look left to find a thick palm tree covered with vines.
Tucked in among the vines and palm frond remnants at about chest level, is the film canister containing the Splash Down letterbox.
Please replace carefully, so it won’t fall and become lost on the ground.
Any box maintenance you notice as being necessary (like adding log sheets if it becomes full) would be appreciated!
It’s also possible to drive around to the back side picnic area. Follow the Picnic Area signs.
