*****home for repairs, we picked up the very warped and falling apart logbook and stamp from Cockadoodledoo(geocaher) we hope to repair and replace this box very soon. DO NOT ATTEMPT,
you will be disappointed.
we will let you know once it is replaced
Reported Found as of May 9th, but not where it should be.
the mailer asked about replacing.
We are absolutely delighted they would notify us!
It was an 11 yr old geocacher.
so not sure when it will be replaced to the right spot.
For now it is inside the Filberg proerty, but not sure where.
(**MISSING as of April 18th 2005!
waa! just checked it and it is gone.
Sorry)
This is a special one designed by chocolate bunny, a junior letterboxer!
I am so proud of her!!
The letterbox is outside of the Filberg Lodge, but if it is open, you really should walk the grounds and check out the art in the Lodge. Depending on the time of year, you may even end up at the famous Filberg Festival. If it is closed, the hiding spot is just above a beautiful little spot to look out over the ocean.
The letterbox is real super easy and kidfriendly. However it is in a cedar hedge, so headcovering may be necessary(not sure what types of tics inhabit cedarhedges, if any) Also if you are allergic to cedar, it could cause a problem.
Clues
Drive into Comox, following Comox Road. Drive right through the quaint little town of Comox you will come to a wee curve in the road, keep to the right and just past that ,turn right onto Filberg Rd. Drive right to the end and park. You should be looking down a small pathway and see a bench and the ocean. Follow the path to the first bench dedicated to Ed Duggan. Sit down, enjoy the view and catch your breath, not that you would be winded walking to the bench. ;)
Now...to the letterbox,
stand up and turn to your right, line up with the evergreen on the other side of the hedge towards the ocean. (Do NOT line yourself up with the evergreen that is towards the road immediately on the other side of the hedge!!)
Take 10 paces towards the hedge.
Take a 1/4 turn to face the hedge, you shold notice a small clearing at ground level at the hedge.
This is your entry spot.
Crouch into the hedge and begin your search at about 5' off the ground.
It should be there.
This box is an orphan, we live about six hours away on the mainland, so please give it TLC if needed. Thanks.
