****Buzz Bee and Prairie Dog are intact, but in need of new ziploc baggies. If you replace them for me, please let me know. Thanks.****
Martin Park Nature Center at 5000 W. Memorial Road is a recreational area and a wildlife sanctuary in northwest OKC. The Nature Center includes a hands-on museum, a browsing library, and a gift shop. Outside the nature center, several hiking trails run through woods and grasslands. The park is free admission, does not allow pets, is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and after 6 pm.

To get to the Park, go west on Memorial. About ½ mile west of Hwy 74 (Portland Ave), you will see a Martin Nature Center indicating for you to turn left. Turn left again to get onto east-bound Memorial. The right hand turn into the Nature Center parking lot is within site. These directions will take you in a big circle, all the way around Trail A of the park, clock-wise. Trail A is 1 ¼ miles long.

Buzz Bee
Follow the signs toward the visitor center. Continue on Trail A past the Bird Feeding Station Observation Area. At about ¼ of the way around Trail A, you get to a Tree House Observation Tower. It is at this point that Trail B turns off Trail A. Stick with Trail A until you get to the large iron walking bridge that takes you to Trail C. This time, go over the bridge. Once on the other side, turn right. Go past a brown wood bench, round the bend, then sit and take a break on the green bench. Take a sip of water, you must be very hot by now. As you are sitting there, glance to your right. You will see a 3 trunked tree that is leaning over. The letterbox is where the roots of this tree are pulled up from behind.

Peppy Prairie Dog
Now return to and cross back over the large iron walking bridge and continue on Trail A in the clock-wise direction you were going. About ¾ of the way around Trail A, you get to a point where you can either turn right to visit Sod Poodle City to view the Prairie Dog Town or turn left to cross the bridge over Dry Creek. Don’t cross the bridge, but the box is located on the left side of the bridge, under the 2nd rock from the corner. After you find the letterbox, proceed to the Prairie Dog Viewing Wall. On the far right side of the wall, is a viewing telescope to get a closer look at these animals.
