This box was planted during a kayaking trip, at our lunch stop along Mosquito Beach. We waded over the river outlet and climbed along the sandstone cliffs to find this gorgeous overlook. So I can't describe the land route, but I know you can reach it with a 4-mile round trip hike. Or you might incorporate it into a longer hike, depending on the spots you want to visit.
Begin at the north end of the NCT bridge over the Mosquito River.
Follow the trail right 10 steps
Left 8 steps
Right 8 steps
Left 4 steps over a log in the path.
It's under that log, nestled next to a stump.
Head just a bit farther up this trail to reach the stairs for shoreline access.
We hope your evening ends with a Michigan campfire like many of ours did... but not on the beach; use a designated ring!
Hike length: 3-5 miles
