Take New Lane from its intersection with the Edgartown Road approximately 1.2 miles; turn right onto Clam Point Road. Parking for the main trailhead is located a short distance down the road. Take the Main Trail all the way out to the point. River Otters are nocturnal, so sightings are rare, but if you walk along the beach at the point you may see their paw prints in the sand. On your way back, stop in the copse of pine trees where there is a wooden bench. Sit on the bench with your back to the water. The box is hidden approximately one adult step towards the treeline and a little to your left under a rock.
