Terrain Difficulty: Moderate (slight slope, 4.5 miles RT)
Recommended Ink: green & red
Status: alive
The Russian River is teaming with thousands of green-headed, red-bodied sockeye salmon during the two major summer runs between mid-June and late July, and a great place to see them is at Russian River Falls.
Directions:
Go west on Sterling Hwy to Milepost 52 and go left (south) into Russian River Campground, pay fee and go to Russian River Trailhead on left and park.
Clues:
Walk on trail, staying right at jct, to viewing platform to see the salmon. Go back to beginning of wood railing for platform and go left uphill on small path 22 steps, then right and up 5 steps to double-trunk tree. LB is at back base under a rock and needles. Please be discreet and replace as described.
