Walking distance: 1.5 miles round trip
Trail difficulty: slightly moderate, fairly flat dirt trail with some rocks.

The answers to the questions in the clues for this webbox are located in Lake Mead National Recreation Area in southern Nevada. Letterboxes are not allowed to be physically placed in national parks, national monuments and national recreation areas administered by the U. S. National Park Service. So, I have created this webbox. You must actually visit the area of the clues; however, you need to go to the Web to obtain your finders stamp and sign the log book.

From U. S. Highway 91 between Boulder City and Hoover Dam, turn north on Lakeshore Road, continue past the Lake Mead Visitor Center a short distance to the trailhead for the Historic Railroad Trail. Park at the trailhead.

On the edge of the parking lot at the start of the trails is a colorful interpretive sign in a small kiosk titled “River Mountains Loop Trail” (it shows a view of the lake and a bunch of pink flowers). In the first paragraph (starts with the words “Welcome to a dramatic”), in the 5th line, what is the 1st word ______? [I suggest you take photos of the signs to prevent future problems]!

Walk up the sidewalk, bear left on to a dirt hiking trail heading northeast. Look for a colorful interpretive sign titled “The Colors of Time”. In the paragraph to the right of the title in the upper right corner of the sign (starts with the words “It is a complicated tale”), in the 4th line, what is the 3rd word ______?

To create the mystery word, put the word from the second question on the end of the word from the first question (without spaces). Paste the mystery word into this URL (replacing the question marks “???” with the mystery word):

Now, plug/paste/type the new URL into your web browser and you will have completed your search for the Lake Mead Recreation Area Webbox.
