Dean Bernal, an avid ocean swimmer, settled in The Turks & Caicos Islands in 1986 and came across three young Atlantic Bottlenose dolphins on his first ocean swim there. One of these dolphins, who Dean called JoJo, started to follow him on his daily swims and soon became Dean’s best friend. In 1989 JoJo was declared a National Treasure of the Turks & Caicos Islands and Dean’s relationship with JoJo allowed him to become actively involved in securing the long-term care and protection of other endangered lone sociable dolphins around the world. JoJo can sometimes be seen in the Grace Bay area near Bight Reef in Princess Alexandra National Park, where this box can be found.
Directions:
Go east on Leeward Hwy, north on Pratt's Rd, east on Lower Bight Rd then north on Penn's Rd to end and park on left in area for Princess Alexandra NP just left of entrance to Coral Gardens Hotel.
Clues:
Walk north on path along wall on left side of hotel toward ocean for 40 steps to 5' tree stump on right just past end of wall. LB is at back base under a rock. Please be discreet and replace as described. After stamping in, continue on path a short way to public beach where you can swim and snorkel.
