Florida, pronounced FlorEEda, is a Forest Ranger Station near Madera Canyon. The complex also is used by U of A for educational and experimantal projects. If not already, it may soon be included in the Forest Service cabins in the woods rental system.
An easy find with a hand carved stamp.
Replaced missing box and stamp on 7/12/2013. Is it gone again?
From Green Valley take Continental Rd. east to Whitehouse Canyon Rd. and turn right ,south, and follow signs toward Madera Canyon. At mile 7 look to the left for Box Canyon Rd. Take the gravel road about 1/2 mile to the fork and take the right fork for 2.6 miles. Florida Work Center sign on right. Past the creek and before the entrance to the staion is the parking for the trail head. Between the two info signs is a big grey rock. Behind and to the right is the box under 3 small rocks and debris. While in the area, visit "Box in Box" and "Sheep in Cattle Country?". Let us know the condition of all.
