Find your way to Nicasio Reservoir.
Nicasio Reservoir is a bit of a study in a bad idea that didn’t turn out particularly well, but it is pretty and a great recreation spot:

I came from Petaluma. Stay on Pt. Reyes-Petaluma Road after you pass the intersection of Nicasio Valley Rd and travel .8 miles to a small pullout on your left where a trail begins. At this writing there was a hard times portapotty at the pullout. Take the little trail and veer off to the right over a woodsy land bridge to an “island.” After you’re on the island spot the very large rock in front of you. If you’re in the fog or you have to squint maybe you’ll see the castle I saw. Very cool!
Walk up to this big rock. Note the next hillock at 140 degrees. Walk down and up to the top of this. If you are wondering about the correct little hill the walk took me 5 minutes. Once you’re up there don’t you think it’d be a great spot for a cottage? OK, now look down hill at about 240 degrees to a set of small boulders. They’re about half way down the hill. To their right about 8 feet is a much bigger rock. So at the small boulders walk down about 4 steps more to another set of small boulders. The box is on the south side of those boulders wedged slightly under and behind some rocks. Welcome to the Scottish Cottage!
Thanks for coming and please close box up tightly and hide carefully.
