Travel to our favorite beach in Santa Barbara/Montecito – Butterfly Beach.
Directions: Take the 101 to Olive Mill Road in Montecito (a few minutes south of Santa Barbara). At the stop sign, turn towards the ocean (away from the mountains) and follow it a quarter of a mile along the coast and go past the Four Seasons Hotel to the staircase at the other end of Butterfly Beach. Butterfly Beach is on your left.
Go down the staircase to the beach. Follow the beach to your right. Go past the concrete wall of rocks. Past the black lava rocks on the cliff. Go over the fallen tree trunk. Just past the tree trunk you will see a tree on your right.
Go up the little trail up to the tree. You will see a mound of rocks. Under the rocks is the box with the green lid. Put it back discretely as this is a very popular beach. Enjoy and look for dolphins in the water! They love this spot.
