RV parking at trailhead or on the highway.

While fishing at the lakes in the June Lake loop there are several signs posted about this nasty little critter. They are very prolific and if introduced into our lakes and streams can decimate them.
We spent 9 days of our “Escape the Kernville Heat” trip staying at Silver Lake RV Park. This RV park is not the prettiest we been at, it is mostly a gravel and some asphalt parking area with hook ups, but it does have a very nice view of Alger Falls. We could wake up each morning, and see the falls from our bedroom window. Since Alger Creek was so close we thought we would leave a snail trapped near the creek.

If you are camping at the same RV Park just walk toward the falls and you will run into the Rush Creek Trail, for everyone else park in the Rush Creek Trailhead parking area across from the FS Silver Lake CG. Find the gravel trail near the restrooms on the south corner of this area. Head south and do not take any path that intersects the path you are on. This path will run along the rear of the RV Park and it will take you to a wooden footbridge that you will use to cross Alger Creek. Once across take five steps to a brushy-bushy gnarly weathered tree on your left. At the base on the bridge side of this tree you will find the snail trapped under a large flat rock and some tree duff. Stamp in quickly as this trail can be busier than you think and be careful not to let the snail into the creek. Once stamped in please return him to his rocky prison.
