Leaving Sonora, drive north on Hwy 108 to Soulsbyville(approx 5 miles). Turn right at the Soulsbyville exit. Staying on Soulsbyville Road, continue past Soulsbyville Elementary School on your right. Pass 2 houses, and turn into the driveway for the original old red schoolhouse.
Find the flagpole between 2 sets of steps. Following the porch, walk downhill on the sidewalk. There are many red rocks at the foundation. Look behind the gold rock at the foundation.
While you're here, check out the historic town of Soulsbyville . Just down the road, you will see original gold rush buildings, and a historical marker for the gold mine.
