BIRD OF PEACE
A nice little hike past some neat ledges and a pond. Just about under 2 miles round trip.
To park, take 295 in RI to Exit 7, then Rt 44 west. Take a right on Cedar Swamp Rd. (near the Apple Valley Cinemas). Follow, then a right on Pleasant View Rd (Rt 5/116 N). Then a left on Log Rd. (near Tonys Pizza Palace). At the yield sign, bear left onto Mann School Rd. Then a right onto Connors Farm Rd. Thru the houses. Find the small parking area for Connors Farm Conservation Area between houses 24 and 20.
Begin by taking the trail past the wooden rail (312°)
At the 4 way, (a poetry box can be seen straight ahead), go 236°
At Y, follow Red
Take time to enjoy the extraordinary rock formations you will be passing.
Trail swings NW uphill.
At the top it swing NE
On, down a small depression and then back up, past a large knee-high rock almost in the middle of the trail
Down another small decline to a large, straight, red blazed tree on trail. Notice the ledges to the NW.
(If you reach the 7ft high, bendy, broke, blazed tree you've gone to far!)
From this large, straight, red blazed tree, take 30 paces at 314° to the pyramid shaped rock at the base of the ledges
Find the flat rock at your feet, 2 paces NW from the pyramid rock. Check under the north side of this flat rock, beneath another, smaller flat rock, to find the Bird of Peace. REHIDE WELL PLEASE!!!!
From here, you can continue on red, which will loop back to the beginning, passing a tranquil little pond.
Hope you enjoyed your little walk in the woods. Let us know how the box is doing! Thanks....Team Primate
