Travel on HWY 61 to the Ray Berglund State Wayside near the Onion River, in Tofte Township, MN.
Pull off and park in the lot, travel up the 53 steps. Follow the path along the fence passing 33 posts. Continue on, passing 3 picnic nooks on your left.
Continue up slight slopes along Onion river. When the path splits into a 'V', on the left there will be a cliff overlooking the river (beware there are no railings here) and to the right the path will continue. Standing at the ‘V’ in the path you will see many birch trees clustered together. Behind the cluster near the bottom you will find a birch bark sleeve with the box.
This stamp was carved while at our favorite home away from home. A quiet cabin in the woods on the Gunflint Trail. Heston’s is an annual trip for us and if you get the chance - go check it out.
