Merrimack Girl Scout Troop 10731 welcomes you to its first letterbox hunt! Start at the entrance of Quarry Trail, which is located at the back of the resident parking lot. Ready to go! Do you have your bug spray on and a trail map of Wasserman Park?
Follow Quarry Trail until you come to a fork in the trail, turn right to continue on Wimbledon Trail (tennis anyone?), which is a connector that links Quarry Trail and Bear Facts Trail. Do not follow the path to the open field, the trail will bear to the left. Cross over a small stone wall and continue on the trail to then cross over a wooden plank. Further along on your left you will notice a sister tree with six limbs that looks like a rhinoceros; the tennis courts will be on your right. Next, check out the fern groves along the trail and notice a sister tree on the right with four limbs with an arch of branches in the foreground perfect for a woodland wedding!
At the end of Wimbledon Trail, turn left onto Bear Facts Trail. Continue and when you arrive at the fork in the trail, Bear Facts Trail will turn to the left; do not continue straight onto the Fitness Loop. You are nearly there! Keep going and walk up a rocky staircase. You will then pass Push-Up Trail on your right. Continue on Bear Facts Trail and you will notice an uprooted tree on your left that created a good sized hole!
Next, turn right onto Spine Trail. The Spine Trail is known for following the top of a ridge for its entire length and has great views in either direction. Walk 50-60 paces and you'll notice a boulder on the right, perfect for climbing on and to hide a letterbox under the boulder around the back.
Remember to date and sign our log book and return the box to its hiding spot! Also remember to update the status online that you found our letterbox. Thank you for choosing us for your adventure!
