We planted this box while searching for the Brownie Troop 6257 – Canton CT and BSA Tribute boxes. We didn’t find the former but did find the latter. It was a great day for a hike tho’ and given the closeness of Halloween…

Thanks to those other two boxes for the beginning of the directions.

Directions: Traveling west on Route 44, turn right onto Indian Hill Road just before the Hillside Motel. Follow Indian Hill Road (be sure to stay left at first fork), which then turns into Breezy Hill Road. About 2 miles from Route 44 look for the drive in on the left. It is a small drive in and you could miss it, so go slow. There is a trail sign high on the tree at the entrance and there is a meadow for parking. This is part of the Canton Land Trust.

Start at the sign board and then take the Orange Trail to the left. The Orange Trail is a “loop” and it is an easy walk of about 45 minutes. In the beginning you will see ferns on both sides of you, then you will cross a small stream. Keep following the Orange Trail until you see a tree with 3 Orange blazes on it. This is where the loop starts. Go right on the loop and proceed down the trail. After walking for a while you will come to a short section of stone wall on the left. Across the trail from it will be a small oak tree with a burl near the bottom. Go to the beginning of the wall. You should see a whitish rock with some moss. This rock is pointing up. To the right of it is a moss covered rock. Look under the front edge of this box.

Carefully rehide without rearranging the stone wall.

This trail is supposed to loop back to where you branched off above. However, I will admit that we ended up on a road that came out to the road by Breezy Hill Farm. If then just walk up the road to your left to get back to your car.
